Welcome New Board Members!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr Sanjeev Y. Tuli who is joining our journal’s Editorial Board and to 4 distinguished physicians who joined our Board of Consultants within the past year.

Sanjeev Y. Tuli, MD

For the past few years, I have had the pleasure of working with Dr Tuli from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine in Gainesville. If you are a regular reader of Consultant For Pediatricians, you have probably read quite a few cases by Dr Tuli and his colleagues.

Dr Tuli is an experienced pediatrician and educator in pediatric medicine. His dedication to his patients, students, residents, and university faculty and to his local community along with his commitment to our journal make him well qualified to serve with the other esteemed members of our Editorial Board (see page 183).

Dr Tuli earned his MBBS and MD in pediatrics from Bombay University in India. He then relocated to the United States and trained at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he also served as chief pediatric resident. In 1997, he moved to Florida to serve as pediatrician for Health Resource Alliance in Dade City, where he also became Medical Director. In 2001, he joined UF, where he currently serves as Professor and Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics. While at UF, Dr Tuli completed a Master Educator in Medical Education Fellowship.

Dr Tuli has received many honors for his service as a pediatrician and teacher, including “Teacher of the Year” in the Department of Pediatrics at UF. He has coauthored numerous articles and cases for multiple publications on various topics. At the national level, Dr Tuli serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) National Committee on Coding and Nomenclature (COCN). The policy work of the COCN directly affects reimbursement for pediatricians throughout the nation. He also serves on the AAP’s Coding Publications Editorial Advisory Board. Also at the national level, Dr Tuli is an AAP CPT Alternate Advisor to the AMA. In this role, he helps review other national organization’s CPT code change proposals for potential pediatric impacts and helps shepherd Academy-sponsored proposals through the code development process. At the state level, he serves on the Florida Chapter–AAP Practice Management Committee.

Board of Consultants

I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful clinicians over the years. Here, I acknowledge a few physicians whose ongoing support, helpful feedback, and educational contributions have earned them a place on our Board of Consultants.

David Effron, MD. Dr Effron is a long-time contributor to both Consultant For Pediatricians and
Consultant, Primary Care edition. You may recognize him as Series Editor of Photo Finish. Dr Effron is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and Attending Physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the MetroHealth Medical Center, both in Cleveland. He is also consultant emergency physician at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Barbara B. Wilson, MD. Dr Wilson is Associate Professor of Dermatology and Associate Director of the Residency Program in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. She and her residents have contributed many informative cases on dermatologic conditions illustrated by outstanding clinical photographs.

William Yaakob, MD. For more than 10 years, Dr Yaakob has served as our radiologist reviewer for both Consultant For Pediatricians and Consultant, Primary Care edition. Dr Yaakob is a practicing radiologist in Tallahassee, Florida. He willingly and happily provides his expert feedback on everything from plain films to MRI scans.

Sonal S. Tuli, MD. Dr Tuli is Associate Professor and Chief, Division of Cornea and External Disease and Residency Program Director of Ophthalmology at UF. Along with Dr Sanjeev Tuli, her spouse, she has contributed a wealth of interesting cases to our journal, several of which involve eye disorders. Her cases are notable for their important teaching messages and excellent clinical photography.

All the members of our Board play a crucial role in making sure the articles we publish are authoritative, timely, and useful. Their input will help us bring you the information you need to provide your patients with the best possible care.
